White House Struggles To Sell Inflation Reduction Act To Voters

US

Ipsos has published a new surveyshowing that Biden administration messaging on the Inflation Reduction Act is still failing to resonate with voters despite underlying support for policies within the legislation. The survey comes as Biden cabinet members fan out across the country for a week of events to mark the one-year anniversary of the IRA.

  • Ipsos: “Most Americans aren’t familiar with any of these [Democrat legislation], including the IRA, which Biden just hit the road to promote. Even most Democrats have heard little or nothing about it. What are Americans familiar with? The high inflation they’ve been dealing with for over a year.”
  • Ipsos: “People may not know about all the legislation coming out of the Biden Administration, but they support what’s inside them. Take, for example, a policy like raising federal taxes on corporations and the wealthy from the Inflation Reduction Act: majorities of Democrats, Republicans, and independents support this. But many are not familiar with this legislation. That’s a problem for the Biden administration.”
