Wires- 4 Oct Joint Technical Committee Cancelled

Wires reporting that according to three sources, tomorrow's OPEC+ Joint Technical Committee has been cancelled.

  • On 5 October the Joint Ministerial Monitoring Committee meeting is due to take place in Vienna, with a presser scheduled for after the meeting.
  • The fact that it is taking place in person (has been virtual since the pandemic), and that a press conference has already been called could be an indication of a significant announcement.
  • The OPEC+ meeting comes as the EU discusses the next package of sanctions on Russia, including a potential cap on Russian seaborne crude oil prices.
