Xi, Putin Hold Call On Afghanistan: Global Times

CHINA-RUSSIA

China's state-run Global Times confirms that Chinese President Xi Jinping held a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss the situation in Afghanistan.

  • People's Daily states that both leaders, "...agree [the] necessity for China, Russia to maintain communication on major bilateral and multilateral issues in a timely manner", while Xi "urges all parties in Afghanistan to build open and inclusive political framework"
  • Xi: "We are willing to collaborate with the international community, including Russia, to improve communication and coordination on Afghanistan".
  • Xi: "China encourages all factions to negotiate and build an open and inclusive political structure, implement moderate, stable domestic and foreign policies, completely cut off from all terrorist groups, and deal amicably with the world, especially neighbouring countries"
