TURKEY: Year-End Inflation Est. Edges Higher in Latest CBRT Survey

  • The CBRT’s latest survey of market participants shows inflation estimates for the next 12 months at 25.26% in February, marginally lower from 25.38% in January. However, the year-end inflation estimate rose to 28.30%, up from 27.05% in Jan, while the 2025 GDP growth estimate fell to 3.0% from 3.1%. The full release can be found here.
  • Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek is in Germany to attend a security meeting and hold talks with officials and investors, Hurriyet report. The minister is scheduled to participate in the Munich Security Conference today and meet with investors at an event hosted by Deutsche Bank to discuss the Turkish economy. Additionally, Simsek will meet with a large group of Turkish businesspeople to deliver a presentation on the economic program.
  • With Donald Trump back in office now, talks that would help increase trade and investment between Turkey and the US are expected to gather pace, Murat Ozyegin, the head of the Turkey-US Business Council said as per Hurriyet.
