FOREX: Yen the standout as Powell move sticks
-JPY, closely followed by AUD, is the strongest currency in G10 FX Thursday as
markets largely build upon the markets moves seen following Powell's lunge for
neutrality in his Economic Club of NY appearance yesterday. USD/JPY made further
progress lower on the fall through Y113.50 overnight, with the move bottoming
out at Y113.21 so far.
-EUR/USD momentum faded somewhat, stalling ahead of $1.14 which becomes first
resistance. News that Deutsche Bank's HQ had been raided by German police slowed
a core European equity rally and helped EUR/USD back to flat on the session.
-GBP hasn't enjoyed PM Theresa May's appearance in front of the lawmakers this
morning, where she defended her warning that the UK is ready for a no deal, no
transition Brexit if her deal fails to make passage through parliament. GBP/USD
accelerated losses through $1.28 to become the worst performer in G10 today.
-German regional and nationwide CPI is due throughout the morning, with US
personal income/spending and PCE numbers coming ahead of FOMC minutes. A speech
from ECB's Angeloni and a conference from the Boston Fed are also due.
