With exit polls from various outlets published following the conclusion of voting in the South Korean parliamentary election, President Yoon Suk-yeol faces the remainder of his term in a 'lame duck' position with the opposition liberal Democratic Party of Korea (DPK) and its allies looking at a landslide win.
- Polls show that in the worst-case scenario for the Yoon the DPK could come up just shy of 200 seats in the 300-member National Assembly. With the anti-Yoon Rebuilding Korea Party (RKP) set to win 12-14 seats, this scenario would leave the president with limited ability to pass domestic legislation and could even face the prospect of impeachment proceedings against him or members of his administration.
- In the SBS and MBC exit polls, even at the lowest end of the DPK range the party still wins over 180 seats. At this threshold parties are able to overcome parliamentary filibusters, allowing the speedier passage of legislation, in turn allowing the opposition to push through its own bills without the Yoon-supporting conservative People Power Party (PPP) being able to 'talk them out'.
- Exit Polls:
- KBS: DPK 178~196, PPP 87~105
- SBS: DPK 183~197, PPP 85~100
- MBC: DPK 184~197, PPP 85~99
- JTBC: DPK 168~193, PPP 87~111
