YtD Budget Deficit Narrows, Unemployment Data On Tap

  • Leader of the centrist Poland 2015 (part of the Third Way alliance) Szymon Holownia said that there has been progress in negotiations on the opposition's "Senate pact," which could be finalised in the coming days. Major opposition parties are looking to field a joint candidate in each constituency to increase its chances for victory in the Senate election, which is conducted using the FPTP system.
  • Poland's YtD budget deficit shrank to PLN12.682bn in June from PLN20.852bn in May, with revenue up 2.6% Y/Y to PLN270.61bn. Fiscal shortfall narrowed thanks to a record CIT revenue, which topped PLN17bn (June is traditionally the strongest month for corporate tax revenue).
  • The unemployment rate is expected to have ticked lower to 5.0% in June from 5.1% prior. The data will cross the wires at 09:00BST/10:00CEST.
