Consumer Confidence Falls Below 2020 Lows

  • On Friday, CNB member Holub said in an interview that there is no limit for Czech rate hikes; a hawkish policy also favor the CZK.
  • This follows last week Governor Rusnok’s comments that the he cannot rule out further rate hikes, but new rate rise is likely to be ‘cosmetic’.
  • This morning economic data showed that consumer confidence fell to -26 in April, its lowest level since January 2013 (see chart).
  • Economic data to watch this week will be Q1 GDP figures coming out on April 29.
