Spox: Kremlin Closely Following Concerning Transnistria Situation

Wires carrying comments from Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov stating that, "the Kremlin is closely monitoring the development of the situation in Transnistria, the latest news from there causes concern". (see 0935BST, 1011BST bullets for more details)

  • When asked whether President Putin or other officials would seek to contact Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Peskov stated that "No, there are no plans for any contacts at the moment."
  • Earlier, President Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone call regardin the situation in Ukraine. Peskov did not give any details of the call.
