Government Agree With Union To Raise Minimum Wage, Goes To Congress

  • Chile’s government reached an agreement with the Central Unitaria de Trabajadores association of unions to raise the minimum wage to CLP400,000 ($472) by August this year, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
  • "Thus, as a first point, the Executive will propose to Congress a readjustment of the minimum monthly income for workers over 18 years of age and up to 65 years of age, of 50,000 during the year 2022 – the highest in 25 years; which will be paid as follows: as of May 1, it will increase from the current 350,000 to 380,000; and from August 1 up to 400,000.” (DF)
