Amb. Lambrinidis: EU Disappointed US Metal Duties Still In Place

In a conversation with the Wilson Center think tank earlier today, the EU's Ambassador to the United Stats Stavros Lambrinidis has stated that the bloc is 'disappointed' that US metal duties on EU exports are still in place.

  • Says that the bloc wants the US to halt the imposition of its metal duties by year-end.
  • Following on from the deal reached last week to end the long-running tariff war involving Boeing and Airbus, there is renewed hope at the EU level that an agreement on the removal of metals tariffs, imposed by former President Donald Trump, can be removed.
  • In May, in order to facilitate talks, the EU suspended its planned implementation of retaliatory tariffs on US metals and other goods.
