ANTAD April Same-Store Sales Data Expected Today

- In a report yesterday, Fitch said that Mexican companies are well positioned to face the results of the upcoming presidential election in the country, which could reshape the business environment with changes in economic and regulatory policy. Fitch noted that most companies have healthy capital structures and it doesn’t foresee increased liquidity or refinancing risks.
- On the data front, ANTAD same-store sales numbers for April are expected later. Sales rose by 7.9% y/y in March. Next week, focus turns to March retail sales figures on Monday, followed by March economic activity, bi-weekly CPI data for the first half of May and the Banxico minutes on Thursday.
- In other news, the country’s power needs for the next five years are guaranteed thanks to the upgrade and construction of several plants across the country, a CFE official said at a conference yesterday. 37 additional power projects will be developed between 2026 and 2027 he said. The remarks follow power blackouts May 7- 9, which affected 5% of total customers.
