ANZ: Australia's Spending Back To Pre-Delta Levels

AUSTRALIA

ANZ note that "for the first time since lockdowns were reimposed along much of the east coast in July, national ANZ-observed spending has returned to pre-Delta levels. The reopening of retail and travel in NSW and Victoria were behind the strength in national spending, with outperformance by Victoria in non-food retailing, and a return to the national average for dining and shopping in New South Wales. Accommodation spending in regional NSW rose from a low of 15% of its pre-Delta level in the week to 26 August to 100% in the week to 7 November, after travel restrictions within NSW were lifted. That also helped dining spending in regional NSW, which is now at 90% of pre-Delta levels."
