AUSTRALIA: ANZ note that "the average annual wage rise in new enterprise
bargaining agreements rose to 2.7% in the March quarter, up from the 2.5% in
December quarter and the 2.2% low in Q3 2017. Construction workers will enjoy
the biggest increase in pay, with an average rise of 5.5%. The data are
consistent with a range of other wage data which suggest that tighter labour
market conditions are gradually feeding into stronger wage growth."
- The next read on wages will come from the Q2 Wage Price Index, due out on 15
August.
