Argentina Run Risk of IMF Rebuke

MEXICO: Both the deputy finance minister and the deputy governor at the Banxico make appearances at a fintech conference in Mexico later today, starting from 9am local tine. Trade balance data showed a narrower deficit than forecast at $881.2mln vs. Exp. $1.81bln in July.


CHILE: President Boric is set to meet with members of the Republican party to conduct talks on pension reform as well as the fiscal pact ahead. The finance minister is also set to discuss the reforms, appearing in from of the lower house finance committee.


ARGENTINA: Over the weekend, the finance ministry announced intentions to improve public and governmental salaries as well as bolster funds earmarked for the retired and less well-off families, according to a statement from economy minister Massa.

  • The announcements follow the governing party’s failure to command a lead in the primary elections earlier this month, and run the risk of a rebuke from the IMF, who had advised the government to rein in pre-election spending.
