AUSSIE: AUD/USD is steady at $0.6882, with Australian PMI prints from CBA coming
up at the top of the hour.
- The pair closed virtually unchanged on Wednesday, after fluctuating through
the day. A slide in Asia-Pac hours occurred as APRA suggested that it considers
raising capital requirements on some financial institutions, while the press
reported that the U.S. weighs blacklisting up to 5 Chinese surveillance
companies. Early London trade brought some respite, but the upside momentum
faded ahead of $0.6900, amidst lack of any positive signals re: the China-U.S.
trade situation, and the rate eased back towards neutral levels.
- Bears target $0.6872, which represents the 76.4% fibo retracement of the YtD
range, and which provided a layer of support on Wednesday. Below here would open
$0.6866/65, where the rate registered its multi-month lows recently. Bulls look
for a move through the downtrend resistance at $0.6918, ahead of the post
election highs at 0.6938.
