AUD/USD Nears 0.6300, Underperforming In G10 Space

AUD

AUD/USD has continued to track lower. Lows for the session sit at 0.6301, while we last tracked at 0.6305. This is 0.50% down for the session (the worst performer in the G10 space). We aren't too far off October lows around the 0.6285 level in the pair.

  • Weaker regional equities, with HK and China markets opening down, has added to bearish A$ momentum. US equity futures sit a touch weaker, but have had an indifferent start to the Thursday session.
  • AUD/JPY is down, last near 94.45. Yen is the only G10 currency firmer against the USD at this stage.
  • Some carry over from weaker jobs growth backdrop may also be lingering, although yield differentials are holding more elevated for the most part with the USD. The dip in the unemployment rate still suggests the jobs market is tight.
