ASIAN MARKETS, AUSSIE-YEN
AUSSIE-YEN: AUD/JPY sits 30 pips above neutral levels at Y75.38. A better than
expected Australian labour market report was responsible for the move higher as
jobs addition swelled faster than expected, triggering a downtick in the
unemployment rate. The rate eased off highs as participants realised that the
rise in employment was driven by part-time jobs, while the prior reading of the
headline figure was revised lower. That said, AUD/JPY turned north again and
currently operates just shy of its best levels. The monetary policy decision
from the BoJ wasn't a market mover as the Board stayed its hand in line with
expectations.
- The rate punched through the 200-DMA at Y75.13, which puts the Dec 13 high of
Y75.98 in focus. Meantime, a dip under yesterday's low of Y74.85 would play into
the hands of bears, opening up the 50-DMA at Y74.41.
