Biden Approval Rating Remains Low Despite Republican Dysfunction In House

US

President Biden's approval rating remains underwater despite a perceived strong performance in response to the Hamas attack on Israel, and Republican dysfunction in the House of Representatives.

  • According to FiveThirtyEight, Biden's approval rating remains a touch over 40.4% with a continued lukewarm voter response to Biden's handling of the economy and concerns over his physical and mental capacity for a second term.
  • Biden's approval rating may drop further as he awaits a response from Congress on two major supplement requests: A USD$105b package for national security priorities and a second USD$56 billion for, “critical domestic needs.”
  • Republicans in the House are likely to criticise the packages as evidence of profligate government spending which has contributed to a rise in inflation - the primary concern for voters ahead of the 2024 presidential election.
