Biden To Deliver 'Bidenomics' Speech In Key Maine District

President Biden will travel to Maine's 2nd Congressional District today to deliver another speech on his ‘Bidenomics’ agenda. Remarks are scheduled to begin at 13:15 ET 18:15 BST. Livestream

  • Today's event is the latest in an aggressive White House strategy to connect Biden's domestic agenda with what it claims is a resilient economy which is outperforming comparable G7 economies across a range of metrics.
  • Politico notes that, “while the state of Maine is blue, the 2nd District… was the only district in New England that backed Trump [in 2020] … As a result, Trump has now lost Maine twice, but still managed to capture one electoral vote from the state each time he’s been on the ballot.”
  • Politico reports: “In 2020, the presidential election was closer to finishing in an Electoral College tie than is widely recognized. Had Trump won Arizona, Georgia and Wisconsin — the sites of Biden’s three narrowest wins — both candidates would have ended up with exactly 269 electoral votes.”
  • Maine’s 2nd District is also one of five seats nationally that voted for Trump and sent a Democrat Representative [Jared Golden (D-ME)] to Congress.
