Biden To Unveil New Investments In Key Swing State

US

US President Joe Biden is shortly due to deliver remarks in Superior, Wisconsin - a state he won in 2020 but where several recent polls have shows former President Donald Trump with a slight lead in a hypothetical 2024 matchup.

  • Biden will use the remarks to announce, "nearly $5 billion in funding for major transportation projects across the country as part of his Investing in America agenda."
  • The White House hopes that an aggressive campaign touting infrastructure spending in the three 'blue wall' states - Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania - can keep intact the Democrat alliance which delivered Biden the White House in 2020.
  • Biden will be encouraged by yesterday's endorsement from United Auto Workers president Shawn Fain which could sway the votes of some of the roughly 1 million UAW members in the rust belt and alleviate concerns over the President Biden’s electric vehicle stimulus funding.
  • Fain said yesterday: “Joe Biden bet on the American worker while Donald Trump blamed the American worker. So, if our endorsements must be earned, Joe Biden has earned it… Today I’m proud to stand up here with your international executive board and announce that the UAW is endorsing Joe Biden for president of the United States.”
  • Note: Wisconsin is under a weather warning so Biden's remarks could be delayed or postponed.
