BP Whiting Refinery Restart Ongoing

The 100kbpd cat feed hydrotreater at BP’s 435kbpd Whiting, Indiana, refinery was shut on 22 February after it was restarted one day before, according to WoodMac.

  • So far, the 115kbpd FCC, 80kbpd FCC and 85kbpd naphtha hydrotreater have restarted since the refinery-wide power outage on 1 February.
  • The 255kbpd CDU, 70kbpd CDU, 24kbpd naphtha hydrotreater and the 56kbpd distillate hydrotreater remained also shut.
  • Sources told Reuters the refinery is scheduled to restart in the last week of February will resume operations at full output in March.
