BRAZIL: Campos Neto Reiterates Copom Looking Past Short-Term Noise

  • Campos Neto now on the wires stating that if rate hikes are required, then the BCB will deliver them, but points to the Copom remaining data dependent and highlights the view hasn't changed since the minutes. He highlights there has been stronger data and that unemployment continues to surprise, but the committee's job is to look past the short-term noise.
  • Referring to the split decision earlier this year, Campos Neto says there was a risk premium attached here, however, part of the risk premium falling was an effort to convey the message that the team is super dedicated and committed to bringing inflation to the target.
