Canadian Crude Exports from US Gulf to Surge in Oct

OIL

Canadian crude exports out of US Gulf terminals are expected to soar in October boosted by overseas demand after the production cuts by Saudi Arabia and Russia according to Bloomberg.

  • US refinery maintenance is also supporting exports with the typically biggest takers of heavy Canadian crude freeing up more barrels for shipment to Asia and Europe.
  • Shipments are expected to see a sixfold jump from September to reach the second highest on record at 11mbbls next month.
  • Canadian output has also recovered after the end of the maintenance season at Alberta’s oil fields.
  • The Canadian crude last week hit the narrowest discount to Nymex WTI in two months, according to Link Data Services.
