Central Bank to Publish Monetary Policy Report; Grain Deal Talks Continue

  • The CBR will publish a report on monetary policy today. The previous report presented the bank’s vision and assessment of economic conditions as well as a new set of macroeconomic forecasts.
  • Black Sea grain deal talks will continue in Istanbul today. Russia has repeatedly stressed that a decision on the further extension of the treaty depends on the fulfilment of the Russian part of the agreement. Lack of progress on this issue threatens the fate of the initiative.
  • A top foreign affairs adviser to Brazilian President Lula da Silva met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Kyiv on Wednesday, as the Brazilian president continues to push for an end to Russia’s war, Bloomberg report. Ukraine and the west have criticized Lula’s repeated suggestions that Zelenskiy bears some responsibility for Russia’s invasion of his country and were angered by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s visit to Brasilia last month.
  • The government will today discuss a bill regarding the supply of natural gas from Russia to China via the “Far Eastern” route.
