CHILE: Striking Miners at Escondida Have Considerable Funding

  • Striking copper miners at BHP’s Escondida operation in Chile have access to enough funding for “a very long period,” their union said in a statement Tuesday. According to reports, funding is “several times larger” than what the union had during a 44-day strike in 2017, they said. Escondida workers that are not part of the negotiation are able to continue working as the mine continues to operate.
