China Flight Miles Tick to Post-Pandemic High

Chinese flight miles have recovered into late June according to Airportia figures. They had tracked lower after an early May holiday boost but have since recovered and are tracking back towards 2019 levels. They are at their highest for 2023.

  • Domestic flights are at 107% of year ago levels while international lags at 69%.
  • An inability for western carriers to fly over Russia to enter China has impacted flight availability with flights between the US and China in particular hammered versus pre-pandemic levels.
