China Refined Oil Production to Fall 10% in Nov: OilChem

China’s refined oil production among state-owned refineries is expected to fall by 9.87% on the month to 23.9m mt in November, according to OilChem.

  • Production of gasoline will be down 7.75% to 9.3m mt, gasoil will fall 10.6% to 10.64m mt and kerosene will 12.8% lower to 3.96m mt.
  • The decline follows two consecutive months of falling capacity utilisation, as well as diminishing demand.
  • The number of refineries under maintenance remains unchanged at four, with unavailable capacity stable in November at 1.91m mt.
  • Throughput at state-owned refineries is planned for 40.9m mt, down 7% on October, while average capacity utilisation will fall 3.12 percentage points on the month to 77.1%.
  • Gasoline and jet fuel demand is expected to weaken amid a reduction in air and car travel during the winter season. Similarly, the end of the harvest season will hit gasoil demand.
