China’s Crude Imports From Iran to Rise to Record in August

Chinese crude oil imports from Iran are poised to rise to around 1.37mbpd this month, compared with around 937kbpd in July, a new record, Kpler data showed.

  • The previous monthly record stood at 1.3mbpd in December last year.
  • Iranian crude shipment to China averaged 915kbpd in the Jan-Jul 2023 period, compared with a monthly average of 707kbpd in all of 2022.
  • Iranian parliament member Hossein Hosseinzadeh said last weekend Iran’s crude oil output has risen to 3.1mbpd, the highest level in nearly five years. This compares to an estimate of 3.07mbpd from Iran’s oil minister earlier in July.
