CNB's Holub Says Rate Cut Size Debate Is Likely Next Week

  • CNB's Tomas Holub told Lidove Noviny that for him "the debate [at next week's Bank Board meeting" will be more about how much to reduce" rates, not about whether to reduce them. The official said that inflation will likely be close to +3.0% Y/Y in January, which is "in the area of normal price development".
  • President Petr Pavel played down the significant of frequent turnovers in his staff as something that "happens by default in all institutions and organisations". He called on the government to draft a responsible budget for 2025, despite it being an election year.
  • The Cabinet meets at 09:00GMT/10:00CET and will discuss passport checks on the border with Slovakia.
