No New Energy Measures in EU’s Next Russian Sanction Package: Argus

The EU’s latest sanctions package against Russia does not contain further measures against Russia’s oil and gas industry, according to Argus citing EU officials.

  • The package, the 13th of its kind, was approved by EU diplomats Feb. 21, but will still need to be approved unanimously by member states to enter into force, Argus analyst Bachar El-Halabi said via X.
  • Almost 200 individuals and companies will be listed, with a focus on procurement networks for done components.
  • Hungary sent signals that it would not oppose the measures, which would make their adoption easier to approve.
