Putin: We Will Develop Relations With Saudi Arabia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has delivered remarks on Saudi Arabia as part of his extensive, ongoing Q&A session at the Valdai Discussion Club thinktank in Moscow.

  • Putin says: "Mohammed bin Salman [MbS] should be respected" when asked about US criticism of MbS.
  • Putin says: "Oil price is not that important," and he supports Saudi Arabia's decision to balance oil markets by cutting production.
  • Putin: "I support Saudi Arabia's joining BRICS group," and says that Russia will work to develop relations with Saudi Arabia.
  • The White House is currently looking at ways to impose "consequences" on Saudi Arabia for the OPEC+ decision to cut oil production, a decision the White House believes demonstrates that Riyadh has chosen to side with Russia over the US.
