ConCourt To Rule On Ex-President Zuma's Eligibility To Stand In Elections

- The Constitutional Court is expected to rule on ex-President Jacob Zuma's election ban at 09:00BST/10:00SAST. The Electoral Court had earlier overruled the ban, but the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) appealed the decision to the apex court. The IEC is arguing that Zuma should not be allowed to stand in elections due to his 15-month prison sentence in 2021. The former President leads the candidate list of the MK Party, which has been targeted by a number of lawsuits filed by the ruling African National Congress (ANC).
- President Cyril Ramaphosa "noted the concerns expressed by some business leaders about his signing into law of the NHI Bill," according to his spokesperson Vincent Magwenya, and is considering how to give the private sector a greater say in the way it is implemented.
