Morning Consult has published a report showing that Democrats are losing ground to Republicans on one of their major electoral pillars: Good governance.

  • Morning Consult notes: “Positive sentiment toward the Republican Party among the U.S. electorate has been trending upward since the 2020 elections, with confidence about the Democratic Party’s competency eroding during Joe Biden’s presidency. In a reversal from 2020, voters are now more likely to say it’s the Republican Party that is capable of governing and can tackle the big issues.”
  • The survey data points to a trend, that appears to have intensified following President Biden's poor debate performance and subsequent Democrat in-fighting, that the GOP is now the more unified party. A reversal from the first Trump administration and disorder in the House Republican conference during that played favourably for Democrats.
