Double Dissolution Not Ruled Out As Housing Bill Returns

AUSTRALIA

There is continued speculation regarding a double dissolution election over the housing bill. PM Albanese has said that he would rather not trigger an election but he won’t rule it out. He has the option if the bill doesn’t pass parliament for a second time. He has said that there wouldn’t be an election as early as October. The Greens and Coalition won’t support it in in its current form in the senate where the government doesn’t have a majority. The bill is expected to be presented again this week.
