Duda Expects Consultations On Court Bill To Happen Today

President Andrzej Duda told reporters that he expects consultations on new court legislation to happen today, adding that they have already been scheduled.

  • Duda said that he met with Prime Minister Morawieck, EU Minister Szynkowski vel Sek and lower house Speaker Witek to arrange the consultations.
  • He reiterated that while Poland needs the EU recovery funds, he wants to protect the stability of the legal system and the independence of judges from external interference.
  • Onet ran a source report noting that the Prime Minister had been telling ruling party leaders that the court bill had been agreed with both Brussels and the Presidential Palace.
  • Poland needs to approve the legislation to address rule-of-law concerns which led to the suspension of EU funding earmarked for the country.
