Economists See Key Rate Left on Hold Next Week

  • In the latest BCCh survey of economists, the 2023 year-end rate forecast has been maintained at 8.50%. The key rate is then expected to drop to 6.75% in 11 months, and fall again to 4.50% in 23 months.
  • For consumer prices, they are expected to rise 0.2% m/m in June, placing the 2023 year-end inflation forecast at 4.7% vs 5.0% last survey. 2024 year-end inflation lowered to 3.2% vs 3.4% last survey.
  • GDP forecasts were as follows: 2023 forecast held at -0.5%, 2024 forecast held at 2.0% and the 2025 forecast raised to 2.3% vs 2.1% last survey.
