EDF Extends Nuclear Outages In 1Q/2Q23

France’s EdF has extended three outages during 1Q and 2Q 22023 and delayed the start up of the new Flamanville nuclear reactor to 2024, EdF remit data show.

  • The outage at the 1.31GW Golfech 1 reactor has been extended to 11 Jun 2023, from 18 Feb previously scheduled.
  • The outage at the 1.33GW Penly 2 reactor has been extended to 11 Jun 2023, from 29 Jan previously scheduled.
  • The outage at the 1.3GW Chattenom 3 reactor has been extended 26 Mar 2023, from 26 Feb previously scheduled.
  • France has been ramping up nuclear availability in recent days, after output fell to a long-time low earlier this year. Nuclear availability stood at 68%, or 39.75GW, on Monday morning.
  • EdF on Friday announced it will delay the start up of the new Flamanville 3 nuclear reactor by several months to 1Q24, from Jun 2023 previously scheduled.
