EGB/Bund- Massive rallies post BoE

  • A extremely busy session this afternoon, following the BoE debacle, after BoE kept Rates Unchanged.
  • Gilts and BTP led the way, dragging Bund and Treasuries higher.
  • Gilt is up 128 ticks, BTP 153, OATs 96 and Bund 90.
  • Front Short Sterling whites are up as much as 26 ticks on the session.
  • Back end Euribor up 12 ticks.
  • UK 5yr yield is set for the biggest 1 day fall since the Brexit referendum.
  • Spreads have all tightened against the German 10yr, Gilts by 8.7bps, Italy 6.1, and Greece 2.3.
  • Looking ahead, BoE Cunliffe, Fed Quarles, and ECB Schnabel are still set to speak.
  • Note that we have BoE pill tomorrow, which will be interesting given today's decision.
  • Dec Bund futures (RX) up 91 ticks at 170.25 (L: 169.03 / H: 170.33)
  • Germany: The 2-Yr yield is down 5.7bps at -0.711%, 5-Yr is down 8.3bps at -0.559%, 10-Yr is down 5.8bps at -0.226%, and 30-Yr is up 1bps at 0.157%.
  • Dec Gilt futures (G) up 132 ticks at 126.12 (L: 124.79 / H: 126.19)
  • UK: The 2-Yr yield is down 18.9bps at 0.515%, 5-Yr is down 19.6bps at 0.657%, 10-Yr is down 13.5bps at 0.94%, and 30-Yr is down 7.6bps at 1.124%.
  • Dec BTP futures (IK) up 148 ticks at 151.75 (L: 150.28 / H: 151.95)
  • Dec OAT futures (OA) up 100 ticks at 166.65 (L: 165.37 / H: 166.73)
