Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe To Appear Before ANC's Disciplinary Committee

SOUTH AFRICA

Netwerk24 reports that South Africa's Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe will have to appear before the ruling ANC's disciplinary committee to explain why he is not guilty of the allegations made about him in the Zondo Commission's report on state capture.

  • Sports Minister Zizi Kodwa and Deputy Defence Minister Thabang Makwetla will also appear before the ANC's disciplinary committee, while there are more party members who will be summoned by the panel.
  • Note that Gwede Mantashe serves as Chairman of the African National Congress alongside holding the Mineral Resources and Energy portfolio in Cyril Ramaphosa's Cabinet.
  • Mantashe today told 702that he believes it is possible to end load-shedding by the end of this year, even as Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa ruled it out in his report tabled to the ruling party.
