Envoy To EU: China Prepared To Take 'Decisive Action' On Taiwan

Speaking to a Q&A at the European Policy Forum, China's ambassador to the EU Zhang Ming speaks on Taiwain. Says that the EU should not "entertain any official relations with Taiwan or have any agreements with it".

  • In similar comments to those made last night by President Xi Jinping to US President Joe Biden, Zhang says Beijing is "willing to strive for peaceful reunification". However if "anyone make any moves toward independence [China will] take decisive action."
  • When asked if sanctions could be removed to allow progress on CAI Zhang states that ""China's decision to honour the agreement remains... the relevant departments are engaged in technical work... the ball, frankly speaking, is in Brussels' court."
