Erdogan Wins Election Run-off

TURKEY

Turkey President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has won Sunday's election run off. The incumbent President received 52.14% of the votes according to the Head of the High Election Board. Erdogan's main rival, Kilicdaroglu, received 47.86% of the vote. This was after 99.43% of the vote counted per Reuters reports. This represents a gap of more than 2 million votes, which means that the remaining votes cannot change the election result.

  • Erdogan has stated that he will build a strong economy based on stability and confidence. He said the urgent issue of bringing down inflation is not difficult to solve, and that like interest rates, inflation will also fall.
