Eskom Says Risk of Stage 8 Load Shedding Very, Very Low

SOUTH AFRICA

In the Eskom Q&A - what could cause Eskom to push loadshedding to stage 8?

  • Risk of stage 8 loadshedding is "very, very low" but depends on state of the system and are not planning on anything beyond stage 6 at this time.
  • On adverse effects of stage 6 loadshedding - haven't seen any adverse effects on the grid so far, and will conduct load reductions as necessary to protect against damage.

Note - Stage 8 loadshedding is 13 hours or more of loadshedding / power rationing per day.
