EU Car Registrations; Mercedes, Hyundai, Ford Decline; Toyota, Volva and Suzuki Grow

  • EU car market rose by 10.1% YoY in Feb with notable growth in France (+13%) and Italy (+12.8%). First two months of 2024 saw 11.2% growth to 1.7mn units.
  • BEVs maintained a 12% market share in Feb (flat YoY) while hybrids captured 29% (from 25.5% last Feb). Petrol and diesel combined market share dropped to 48.4% from 51.9%.
  • EU market shares by brand are relatively flat compared to Feb 23 though Mercedes, Hyundai and Ford saw declines of 0.5% or over while Toyota, Volvo and Suzuki saw gains of 0.5% or over
  • Feb 24 EU market shares vs. Feb 23 market shares; VW 25.9% vs. 26%, Stellantis 19.5% vs. 19.2%, Renault 10.4% vs. 10.8%, Toyota 7.8% vs. 7.3%, Hyundai 7.8% vs. 8.4%, BMW 5.8% vs. 6.2%, Mercedes 5% vs. 5.7%, Ford 3% vs. 3.9%.
