NATURAL GAS
The EU’s natural gas consumption has declined by 17.7% in the August 2022 to March 2023 period compared with the 2017-22 average according to Eurostat data.
- This is above the EU’s voluntary gas reduction target of 15%, which has been extended by one year until March 2024.
- Demand saw the sharpest decreases in Finland, Lithuania and Sweden.
- According to the EIA, EU gas demand dropped by a record 45bcm through the 2022/23 heating season.
