EU Joint Gas Purchases  Delivering Well With Active Members: EFET

Efet's gas committee chair Doug Wood said the AggregateEU joint gas purchase platform was "useful" to demonstrate that the "market was already delivering pretty well amongst active participants" according to Argus.

  • Members that participated in the tender were “only matched or connected with people they were already talking to," Wood said. It remains to be seen "whether any additional deals have been done through the platform that would not have happened anyway.”
  • The market focus is possibly turning back towards long term contracts after the recent focus on short term contracts he added.
  • The European Commission has not published analysis on whether the prices achieved from the tender differed from trades through existing market platforms as they focus on participation from large industrial users.
