LNG

European LNG sendout is drifting down from the record import levels last month and the peak seen on 24 April.

  • Total European net import flows remains strong as they follow the seasonal trend lower down to just over 400mcm/d.
  • A record 97 cargoes arrived in NW Europe in April beating the previous high of 89 arrivals in December with total European sendout peaking at 537mcm/d.
  • European imports are supported by muted demand in Asia amid high inventory levels and reports that some north Asian buyers are reselling shipments. A Japanese utility has sold a spare cargo for summer delivery and several Chinese companies are offering to sell cargoes to optimise portfolios.
