EURO-DOLLAR: EUR/USD last deals at $1.1102, unchanged on the day. Support noted
at last Friday's low of $1.1052, resistance at $1.1134, the 21-DMA.
- The rate dropped into the European morning yesterday as USD appreciated after
U.S. Pres Trump said that Chinese off'ls called their U.S. counterparts and want
to restart bilateral trade talks. Limited reaction was seen to the subsequent
release of weaker than expected German Ifo survey and EUR/USD traded sideways,
before easing off somewhat late doors.
- French Pres Macron said that Washington & Paris struck a deal re: France's new
tax on tech giants. In Italy, the Democratic Party & the 5S Movement are
struggling to reach a coalition accord to prevent a snap election. President
Mattarella expects a definitive answer on Wednesday. Interparty talks dragged on
into early Tuesday hours and will resume in the morning, per Ansa.
- EZ focus today turns to German GDP (f). Later in the week, highlights include
CPI data from Italy & Germany (Thursday), as well as the EZ & France (Friday).
Final French GDP, due on Thursday, will also be watched. ECB's de Guindos speak
later today alongside BoE's Tenreyro, with ECB's Rehn due to appear on Friday.
