EURO-DOLLAR: EUR/USD last trades at $1.1394, having posted an uptick in early
Asia-Pacific dealing.
- On Friday the pair jumped ~50 pips before slumping to the day's lows of
$1.1372, as MNI cited sources saying the ECB is mulling fresh TLTROs should the
current economic slowdown be sustained.
- Today, Italy's FinMin Tria is heading to Brussels to discuss his country's
controversial budget with his EU peers. In the past couple of weeks, concerns
over Italy's expansionary fiscal plan has weighed heavily on the EUR, while the
spread between Italian vs. German 10-yr bonds reached >300 bps.
- EUR/USD bulls seek a close above the psychological $1.1400 level to reaffirm
the uptrend, while bears need to return to Friday's low before targeting the
hourly support at $1.1360.
- Highlights of this week include German factory orders due tomorrow & German
industrial production due Wednesday, as well as any fallout from Italy's budget
dispute. Elsewhere, ECB's de Guindos will speak today, ECB's Praet, Coeure &
Lautenschlaeger are due to speak tomorrow, and Coeure will speak again on Thurs.
