EURHUF Testing 200DMA Resistance

  • Orban made the announcement in a state-of-the-nation speech Saturday aimed at kicking off the campaign for the April 3 parliamentary elections that polls show to be the closest of his three terms in office (BBG).
  • On Friday, economic showed that Hungary CPI inflation accelerated to 7.9% YoY (vs. 7.4%) up from 7.4% the previous month, currently standing at its highest level since August 2007.
  • The renewed Russia-related tensions has been weighing on the HUF, which put NBH policymakers in a ‘difficult’ position as further forint weakness keeps supporting inflation expectations.
  • EURHUF has been testing its 200DMA at 357.20 in recent days; a break above that level would open the door for a move up to 360. On the downside, first support stands at 355, followed by 352.40.
